How You Can Help

Special Kids Inc. is a non-profit organization  operating as a Community Parent Resource Center. Special Kids, Inc. is dedicated to empowering, educating, and supporting families of children with disabilities. Founded in 1989, our primary goal is to ensure that all children are getting the appropriate care and education needed to experience a happy, healthy, productive life, and most of all reach their fullest potential.  We keep parents of children with disabilities informed about the laws that govern special education programs.

Special Kids, Inc. (SKI) has a community of parents, families, legislators, advocates, service providers, the Houston-area and national supporters. We could do very little without such an amazing support network of such community-minded people. . 

Volunteer: Be a part of our team!

We always welcome anyone who would like to be involved with our programs. Currently we are seeking:

  • Host and/or sponsor an event or  support group meeting.
  • Volunteers to start, coordinate, and/or assist at a local SKI in Public Schools (SIPS) program. Please contact Diona Poledore, Volunteer Coordinator at 713-783-5437 to see where your talents and gifts are needed.
  • Tell us your story. You need to tell your story as there are others parents with similiar experiences who could benefit from hear or reading of how you are overcoming or overcame the challenges you have faced.
  • Assistant Editor for the SKI Report newsletter. Please contact Helen Davis, Co-Director at 713-783-5437.

We rely monetary contributions from people like you who see the need for the Special Kids, Inc.   We are committed to serving families of children with disabilities in our community.
