Training for Parents of Disabled Children

We work hard to help parents develop IEP meeting strategies, communicate with teachers and administrators, and navigate the HISD system. We also provide training for educators and surrogate parents to help them better assess their children's needs, set goals and achieve the absolute best for their children. Check out more information and find dates for our upcoming child advocacy training events here.

Special Kids, Inc. also provides One on One Consultation for parents. This service is provided as extended support to parents attending Individual Education Planning (IEP) and Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) sessions with their child’s school.

The parent contacts our office prior to the meeting with the school, brings in all documents related to the child’s disability and education. Then one of our specially trained staff members will assist the parent in understanding what the documents are stating and provide suggestive courses of action appropriate for the needs of the child.
